Scout

Konstantin Grcic conceived Scout as a set of tools that evolve with the way we work and learn.

What is your credo as a designer?
As a designer, it's important to me to create things that are honest and simple, openly showing how something is made and how it works. Every project begins with questions, and those questions guide me in giving the work a sense of purpose. People and the environment are at the heart of everything I do.
What is the idea behind the design of Scout?
The idea was to create a dynamic tool for today's work environments – mobile, adaptable and open-ended. Scout is a family of tables: small, medium and large, for sitting or standing. Some are height-adjustable, some fixed, and others on wheels, designed to nest compactly when not in use.
What problem does Scout solve?
In many workplaces, requirements change constantly...
The defining structural and design feature of Scout is its robust tubular steel frame. It not only ensures stability, but also creates a room-within-a-room effect – even without screens – and helps to signal privacy. During seated conversations around the table, it provides a welcome sense of enclosure. In addition, accessories can be quickly and easily attached for personalisation.

A setup for working and learning
Five tables for every purpose – work, learn, collaborate, present, meet and more. From compact work surfaces to full desks and meeting tables, choose from mobile or fixed designs, adjustable heights, screens and smart accessories. Use a table alone, move it with others, then nest and stow them away to save space. Prefer a stationary setup? Take a seat at a fixed desk or meeting table. Trapezoidal tables can also be combined in endless configurations, great for collaboration and interactive learning.
